As a writer of science fiction and fantasy, I always liked philosophy and history. And I always wanted to read the classics of the genre.

Instead, I have usually found myself just reading the Wikipedia entries about those books.

​

Because, unfortunately, my experience has always been that most of those old, classic books were, honestly, pretty much unreadable. 

​

"Maybe I'm not smart enough to understand them?" I thought. "Maybe I'm too impatient?"

Actually, that wasn't the case.

​

When I decided to update these classic works with modern language, I found that they are completely understandable. The barrier was never the ideas. It was always a language barrier.

I think you'll have the same experience.
